Calculating ground and air risk

After a pre-evaluation, the first step in the SORA is your Concept of Operations. This is usually provided as a separate document, which you can upload at this step. You can also make various declarative statements about your flight, such as Controlled Ground Area or Atypical Airspace.

An important part of this step is selecting your drone(s). You can easily choose and assign them from the equipment pool you set up earlier. The drone's technical specifications are then automatically applied to the risk calculation.

In the next step, you can specify whether you plan to fly during the day and/or at night, and define key characteristics of your flight, such as maximum altitude or maximum planned speed. wingman helps you calculate the Contingency Area and Ground Risk Buffer automatically, saving you a lot of time and effort.

Based on your input and your flight plan, our Risk Engine automatically calculates the initial SAIL, made up of ground risk and air risk. In doing so, wingman follows the exact (SORA 2.5) methodology currently used by the relevant authority. From here, you can view risk details along your flight plan by opening the map. You can also declare various mitigations, whose impact is likewise calculated automatically according to the SORA methodology.
