Overview of the DJI Mini 2 firmware v01.07.0200
Over the past two weeks, DJI has distributed numerous firmware updates for a large number of its drones. One function that has been included in the majority of them and has now also found its way to the DJI Mini 2 (test) family is resetting the settings and deleting all data on the device and the SD card.
No further functions or bug fixes are mentioned. As always, however, we recommend installing the latest firmware version.

Reset DJI Mini 2 settings
Simply scroll to the bottom of the “About” tab and tap “Reset all settings” to reset the camera, gimbal and safety settings to the default values. This is handy if you want to reset everything to the factory settings and set up the drone from scratch.
You can also tap “Delete all data” to delete all data stored in the internal memory and on the microSD card, including the flight logs, and reset all settings to the default values. This is useful if you want to sell your drone.
Notes
If the firmware update fails, restart the DJI Mini 2, the remote control and the DJI Fly app and then try again. The most common problems can usually be solved in this way.
Perform DJI Mini 2 firmware update
We have already summarised instructions on how you can easily update the firmware of the DJI Mini 2 in a separate article – Performing a DJI Mini 2 firmware update.
Firmware update 01.05.0000
DJI has been delivering new firmware updates for its popular Mini 2 (test) and Air 2S drones for a few days now. With the help of the updates, the drones are able to transmit their identification data (Remote ID) wirelessly. The updated firmware versions have the version numbers 01.05.0000 (Mini 2) and 02.04.21.90 (Air 2S). The new firmware focuses on compliance with the upcoming Remote ID requirements for drones, but not for Europe but for the Japanese market. There, the Remote ID law will come into force on 20 June 2022, based on the amendment to the country’s Civil Aeronautics Act in 2020.
Drones weighing more than 100 grams that are registered in Japan’s drone registration system DIPS-REG after 20 June must support Remote ID. If these drones are not equipped with a remote ID module, their flight operations will be restricted. Interestingly, aircraft registered in DIPS-REG by 19 June 2022 are exempt from this requirement.
The updates require the DJI Fly app version 1.6.6.

DJI Mini 2 Firmware Update v01.03.0000 – Smart Controller Support
The first DJI Mini 2 firmware update since March of this year is probably one of the most exciting. DJI has finally integrated the long-awaited support for the Smart Controller. This means that DJI’s much-praised universal remote control can now also be used with the DJI Mini 2 (test). A function that owners of the DJI Mini 2 have been waiting for since the drone was released. Until now, DJI has kept its plans for such support under wraps, which makes the release of this update all the more surprising.
To be able to use the Smart Controller with the DJI Mini 2, the Smart Controller must also be updated. A firmware update with the version number v01.01.0058 is also available for this purpose.
In addition, the 50 MB update also corrects the recently identified problems with automatic battery discharge. This did not work properly if a battery was left in the DJI Mini 2 or was in the charging station. In addition, the firmware update v01.03.000 improves the gimbal FPV mode as well as the general flight stability and reduces the frequency of messages to recalibrate the compass.
Overview of the update
- Date: 2021.06.16
- Aircraft firmware: v01.03.0000
- Remote Controller firmware: v04.11.0016
- DJI Fly App iOS: v1.4.3
- DJI Fly App Android: v1.4.2
New features of the firmware update v01.03.0000
- Added support for DJI Smart Controller (requires DJI Smart Controller v01.01.00.58 or higher).
- The gimbal FPV mode has been optimised to improve the flight experience.
- Optimised automatic discharge process for the battery. For more information, please refer to the DJI Mini 2 user manual.
- Improved flight stability and greatly reduced number of compass calibration prompts.

DJI Mini 2 Firmware Update v01.02.0300
DJI has released a new firmware update for the DJI Mini 2 today, upgrading the version to 01.02.0300. The update addresses a frequently reported bug.
Probably the most important point of the update concerns a bug that is currently being reported relatively frequently. We have been informed several times that users of the DJI Mini 2 (test) have the problem that it can no longer hold its position and drifts off for inexplicable reasons. This problem is to be addressed with the update.
A new function has also been added that allows you to control the orientation of the drone when flying forwards during RTH. A problem where the gimbal could vibrate when the drone landed during the RTH process has also been fixed.
Overview of the update v01.02.0300
- Date: 2021.03.04
- Aircraft Firmware: v01.02.0300
- Remote Controller firmware: v02.00.1200

DJI Mini 2 Firmware Update v01.02.0100 and v01.02.0000
The new year is still very young and the DJI Mini 2 is already being upgraded to version v01.02.0100 with two firmware updates. There are numerous improvements for the small drone. We have all the information for you.
DJI has released version v01.02.0000 directly followed by a fix with the version number v01.02.0100 for the DJI Mini 2 (test) . Both updates together amount to around 50MB.
While v01.02.0000 brings numerous improvements, v01.02.01000 is merely a stability update that irons out bugs from v01.02.0000. For example, zoom is now also available in photo mode and not just in video mode. The frame rates 48, 50 and 60 have also been added for the 2.7k video mode. In addition, image errors in Panorama DNG mode and 4K video mode have been fixed. Finally, the quality and stability of the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connection have been improved.
There is also a tiny update for the remote control (RC-N1) which can also be installed at the same time.
Note: The firmware update requires version 1.2.2 of the DJI Fly app. This version is currently only available for iOS in the corresponding store. Android users must download version 1.2.2 from the DJI website*.

DJI Mini 2 Firmware Update v01.01.0700
One month after the first firmware update for the DJI Mini 2, the second update is now available. The version number has been raised to 01.01.0700 and the small update contains improvements for flight stability, among other things. We summarise.
Today’s DJI Mini 2 firmware update to version 01.01.0700 is relatively small at less than 50MB. The changes in the update are correspondingly short. Of particular interest is the point concerning the improvement of flight stability in environments with a lot of interference. Below is the official information on the update.
Overview of the update v01.01.0700
- Date: 2020.12.16
- Aircraft Firmware: v01.01.0700
- Remote Controller firmware: v02.00.1101
- DJI Fly App iOS: v1.2.1
- DJI Fly App Android: v1.2.1
New features of the firmware update v01.01.0700
- Support for the activation of additional GEO zones has been added.
- Flight stability in environments with interference has been significantly improved, resulting in a better flying experience.
- Rare problem fixed: the drone could not take off in some situations.

We have not yet been able to determine the extent to which the “significant improvement” has been implemented for “flights with disruptions” and when you will really notice anything. We would be happy to receive tips from the community. In principle, however, it is only to be welcomed if DJI has turned a screw here that could lead to improvements.
Otherwise, installing the latest firmware version is, as always, highly recommended. So far there have been no known problems.

If the firmware update fails, restart the DJI Mini 2, the remote control and the DJI Fly app and then try again. The most common problems can usually be solved in this way.
